  • Sponsor a Student and Help Shape a Brighter Future

Each year, Charity Service Faith Mission supports students in Malawi through our Scholarship Program, helping to remove the financial barriers that often keep children and youth from continuing their education. For the 2025–2026 school year, we are looking for compassionate individuals, families, or groups willing to sponsor a student who has never had this kind of support before. Your sponsorship will cover vital needs such as school fees, uniforms, supplies, and sometimes even transportation to and from school. When you sponsor a student, you’re not only investing in their academic success, you’re also instilling hope, confidence, and a sense of belonging. Many of our students are the first in their families to attend secondary school or even dream of university. As a sponsor, you’ll receive: A photo and profile of your sponsored student Updates on their academic progress The joy of knowing you are making a life-changing difference We currently have several students waiting for a sponsor. If you'd like to be part of their journey, we invite you to reach out. Sponsorship changes lives, starting with theirs, and often yours too. 👉 To learn more or sign up to sponsor - Together, let’s give every child the opportunity to dream, learn, and thrive.

  • The 1,000 Backpack Drive: A Mission of Empowerment and Global Connection

Charity Service Faith Mission has officially launched its 1,000 Backpack Drive, an ambitious and purpose-driven initiative designed to equip children in underserved communities with one of the most basic tools for academic success: a backpack. Running through August 31, 2025 , this campaign reflects the organization's ongoing commitment to expanding educational access and affirming dignity through practical support. A Dual-Destination Mission This year’s backpack drive will benefit two primary mission fields: Malawi and Jamaica . The majority of backpacks will be delivered during Charity Service Faith Mission’s upcoming humanitarian trip to Malawi in September , where the organization has developed deep-rooted partnerships with local schools and communities. In addition, a portion of the collected backpacks will support Kingdom Life Ministries’ mission work in Jamaica , further strengthening a longstanding collaborative relationship. These destinations were selected based on demonstrable need and the organization’s strategic focus on supporting education in communities where school-aged children often lack even the most basic supplies. By offering a simple backpack, the initiative aims to alleviate one barrier to school attendance while sending a message of hope and solidarity. How the Community Can Participate The success of the drive is contingent upon the collective involvement of local businesses, community members, faith-based organizations, and civic partners. The organization is collecting new, empty backpacks only - no school supplies are required. Individuals and groups may choose to participate in one or more of the following ways: Donate new backpacks Contribute financially (enabling the organization to purchase backpacks on behalf of the donor) Serve as a drop-off location (details to be announced shortly) Those interested in participating are encouraged to follow the organization’s social media channels for updates and announcements regarding drop-off points and ongoing progress toward the 1,000-backpack goal. The Broader Impact While a backpack may seem like a small gesture, it often marks the beginning of a more dignified educational journey for a child. In many areas of Malawi and Jamaica, children walk long distances to school, oftentimes carrying their books and supplies in plastic bags or their hands. A backpack provides not only a practical solution but also a renewed sense of self-worth and encouragement to continue their education. Charity Service Faith Mission recognizes the importance of such tangible interventions in transforming lives. The backpack drive aligns with the organization’s broader mission: to ensure that every individual, regardless of geographical location or economic condition, has access to opportunities and essential resources. Join the Movement With your help, we can reach and even exceed our goal. Every backpack is a step closer to equity, empowerment, and educational access. • Meet the Founder: A Heart for Service

Hi there, and welcome to the Charity Service Faith Mission blog! I’m honoured to introduce myself and share a little bit of the story behind the heart and hands that helped shape this mission. My name is Jasmin Edwards, and I am one of the co-founders of Charity Service Faith Mission—a nonprofit organization rooted in faith, compassion, and the belief that every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and hope. My service journey didn’t begin with a grand vision. It started with small acts—handing out care packages to people experiencing homelessness in my community, listening with empathy, and simply being present. Those moments of connection planted something deep in me. In 2014, I began volunteering internationally with organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Praying Pelican Mission, Compassion for Christ, and my home church, Kingdom Life Ministries. I travelled to Belize, Haiti, Ethiopia, Jamaica, Panama and Malawi. But it was in 2017, during a mission trip to Malawi, that my life was forever changed. I helped build homes—but more than that, I built relationships. I saw firsthand how a little bit of help, given in love, could go such a long way. That experience led to the birth of Charity Service Faith Mission. What began as support for a small primary school in Malawi has now grown into a mission that provides scholarships, builds boreholes, empowers women in farming, distributes hygiene products and school supplies, supports job skills training, and more in Malawi. And, locally, bringing dignity and hope to those experiencing homelessness through the "Hope in a Bag" care package initiative. I’ve learned through all this is that choosing to serve others isn’t about having the biggest or the greatest. It’s about making the sacrifice to help those in need. That’s something I’ve always lived by. And I hold close to these words from Mother Teresa: “I can do no great things, only small things with great love.” Those words are my compass. I don’t do this work for recognition. I do it because I believe love should move us to action. I believe in people. I believe in possibility. And I believe that when we come together with kindness and purpose, we can change lives—one small act at a time. Thank you for being here, for reading, and for walking with us in this mission of hope. With love, Jasmin Edwards, Co-Founder, Charity Service Faith Mission

  • Honoring Earth Day: Caring for Creation and Community

Each year on April 22, the world pauses to reflect on the beauty of our planet and the responsibility we share to protect it. Earth Day is more than just a celebration of nature—it’s a call to action. At Charity Service Faith Mission, we believe that caring for the earth goes hand in hand with caring for one another. Our work in Malawi is rooted in the understanding that the health of our communities is closely connected to the health of our environment. Two of our initiatives—our Clean Water Initiative and Women in Farming Initiative —embody this connection and highlight the importance of sustainable development. Clean Water, Clean Earth Through our Clean Water Initiative , we help drill boreholes in communities that lack access to clean water. This improves health and hygiene and reduces the need for residents, especially women and children, to walk long distances to fetch water, often from unsafe sources. By providing local access to clean water, we’re helping to: Preserve natural water sources from overuse Reduce waterborne illnesses Create a ripple effect of environmental and social sustainability Every borehole drilled is a step toward environmental justice, showing that small, focused acts of kindness can have a lasting impact. Farming with the Future in Mind Our Women in Farming Initiative empowers women to grow crops, feed their families, and build sustainable livelihoods. This program not only lifts women economically but also teaches responsible land stewardship. With the introduction of staggered planting , we're maximizing harvests while giving the soil time to recover—an essential practice in protecting long-term soil health and combating food insecurity. These women are not just feeding their families—they’re becoming environmental champions in their own right. Join Us in Making a Difference We invite you to join us in caring for creation this Earth Day. Whether it’s through supporting clean water access, sustainable farming, or simply spreading the word, your involvement helps us continue building healthier communities and a healthier planet. Let’s honour the earth by uplifting the people who depend on it most. Make an impact today. Your donation helps us drill more boreholes, support women in farming, and bring lasting change to communities in need. To donate, click the donate button at the top of the page. Together, we can make every day Earth Day.

  • Spreading Hope Through Care: A Heartfelt Thank You

At Charity Service Faith Mission, we believe in the power of community and compassion, and over the recent Easter weekend, that spirit was truly alive. We are incredibly grateful to our amazing volunteers who joined us in assembling care packages for those in need. Your time, energy, and kindness helped us pack essential items that bring a little hope and dignity to our neighbours experiencing homelessness. Your presence reminded us that service is most meaningful when it’s done together. A special thank you goes out to Kingdom Life Ministries , which opened its doors and offered us space to package everything. Without your support, this initiative would not have been possible. Thank you for believing in our mission and playing a key role in helping us serve others. On Easter weekend, we were honoured to distribute some of these care packages to homeless men at the Salvation Army Men's Shelter. Sharing these small tokens of care during such a meaningful time brought joy and encouragement to the recipients and all of us who took part. Every packed bag, every shared moment, every act of love—it all matters. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. Together, we are spreading hope, one package at a time. With gratitude, The Charity Service Faith Mission Team

  • Hope Has Hands: Our Skills Training Program Launches in Malawi

Today marks a beautiful beginning—a moment we’ve prayed, planned, and dreamed about. With joy overflowing, we're excited to announce the official launch of our Skills and Vocation Training Program in Mulanje, Malawi! This isn’t just the start of a program—it’s the start of transformed lives, restored dignity, and renewed hope. This morning, six courageous men took a step into their future as they began our Welding and Fabrication Training Program. Their faces were filled with excitement and determination as they put on their safety gear for the very first time. These men are not just learning a trade—they’re building a foundation for a better tomorrow, for themselves and their families. But that’s not all. We also celebrated the start of our Tailoring Program, welcoming two brave individuals—a man and a woman— who have taken the first step toward self-sufficiency and empowerment. As they sat behind their sewing machines, you could feel the quiet strength and hope rising in the room. This is more than sewing. It’s the power to create, to provide, and to dream again. None of this would have been possible without you —our donors, supporters, and prayer warriors. Your generosity has planted seeds that are already beginning to grow. You believed in the vision, and now you get to see the fruit. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. This is your impact in action. Foreign Mission As we move forward, we are filled with hope and anticipation. This is just the beginning—and we believe that through these skills, lives will continue to change, one person at a time. With gratitude and joy, The Charity Service Faith Mission Team

  • Small Things with Great Love: A Journey to Kalilima 2 Village, Mulanje, Malawi

"We can do no great things, only small things with great love." – Mother Teresa In May 2017, Charity Service Faith Mission (CSF Mission) founders Dawn Edwards and Jasmin Edwards were given a life-changing opportunity: to join a volunteer team with Habitat for Humanity on a build project in Mulanje, Malawi. They lived and worked in Kalilima 2 village, a small rural village, for ten days, where they helped construct two homes for two hardworking and deserving families. It was a humbling experience — the kind that shifts your perspective forever. However, it wasn’t just the house-building that impacted them. During their stay, they visited Mtendere Primary School, the only school serving children from Kalilima 2 and 11 nearby villages. At the time, over 750 students were enrolled, ranging from grades 1 through 8. Today, that number has grown to more than 900 students. While the school building itself is well built, what they saw inside broke their hearts — bare classrooms with no desks, benches, or basic school supplies. The environment was challenging, yet the students showed up every day, present and eager to learn. Their determination and resilience moved Dawn and Jasmin deeply, and at that moment, they knew something had to be done to help change the classroom environment. As soon as they returned home to Canada and the U.S., they reached out to UNICEF, which had an ongoing initiative in Malawi called K.I.N.D. – Kids In Need of Desks. They also contacted the Malawi Ministry of Education, seeking their help in supporting Mtendere Primary School. The response was incredibly positive. By January 2018, less than a year later, the school received: 270 desks and benches for all eight classrooms 16 desks and chairs for the dedicated teachers The impact of this contribution was immediate and impactful. Students no longer had to sit on the floor. Teachers had proper desks for planning and teaching. A renewed sense of dignity and hope filled the classrooms. At the heart of it all was a simple belief: every child has the right to education. And education is not just about books and classrooms — it's about opportunity, empowerment, and breaking the cycle of poverty. Dawn and Jasmin's journey with Mtendere Primary School didn’t end in 2018. They remain committed to supporting these students and their teachers. Their goal is to continue creating opportunities that encourage, equip, and empower — helping each child reach their full potential and, in turn, contribute to their communities. This is more than a story about desks. It’s a story about how small acts, done with great love, can create lasting change. The journey continues… Join us in making a difference. The story of Mtendere Primary School is just one example of how love in action can transform lives. While a simple desk may seem small, to a child in Malawi, it's a symbol of dignity, opportunity, and hope. You can be part of this journey. Whether through a donation, partnership, or simple sharing of the founders' story, your support can help them continue to provide essential resources and educational opportunities for students in need. • From Hope to Achievement: The Journey of Stanley Chikwanje

In 2018, we met a bright young boy named Stanley Chikwanje in Standard 7 at Mtendere Primary School, in Mulanje, Malawi. At the time, he was full of potential but faced significant financial constraints that hindered his ability to continue his education into secondary school . The following year, when he completed standard 8, Charity Service Faith Mission stepped in, offering him a scholarship to attend secondary school. Little did we know, this moment would mark the beginning of an inspiring journey. With the support of our scholarship program, Stanley entered secondary school, determined to make the most of this opportunity. Over the course of four years, he demonstrated exceptional dedication to his studies, proving that when given the right resources and support, students can thrive regardless of their circumstances. His hard work paid off, and in 2024, he achieved a significant milestone—gaining university admission. Reflecting on his journey, Stanley shares, "When I was in primary school, I never imagined I would one day be in university. The scholarship changed my life and gave me hope. It allowed me to focus on my studies without worrying about school fees." Now in his first year of university, he continues to pursue his dreams with determination. "Being in university is a dream come true. I am grateful to Charity Service Faith Mission and everyone who has supported me. • Hope for a Brighter Future: Investing in the Children of Malawi

Grade 2 Student At Charity Service Faith Mission, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream. In Malawi, education is a beacon of hope. Still, it comes with challenges for many children—lack of school supplies, limited resources, and financial hardships that make access to education difficult. That’s why our partnership with a local primary school is so close to our hearts. Through this initiative, we provide students with essential school supplies, a school library, hygiene products and scholarships to ensure they have the tools they need to succeed. We see their joy when they receive a new notebook, their determination as they study, and their dreams of becoming teachers, doctors, and leaders in their communities. These children are the reason we continue this work. Their resilience and eagerness to learn inspire us daily. But they can’t do it alone—and neither can we. Your support helps us reach even more students, breaking down barriers to education and building a brighter future, one child at a time. Join us in making a difference. A simple act—donating a backpack, sponsoring a student, or spreading the word—can change the course of a child's life forever. • Empowering Women Through Farming: A Path to Sustainability

At Charity Service Faith Mission, empowering women is key to building strong, self-sufficient communities. Our Women in Farming Initiative  is a testament to that belief, giving women in Malawi the tools, knowledge, and resources to cultivate their success—one harvest at a time. A Growing Opportunity Empowering Women, Mulanje, Malawi   Currently, 30 women are part of this initiative, working in two groups of 15. Together, they plant, nurture, and harvest crops that provide food for their families and serve as a source of income. The women sell their produce, keeping some of the profits for their households while saving the rest for the next planting season.   But farming is more than just planting seeds—it’s also about creating a sustainable future. Through this initiative, women are learning the best farming practices, financial management, and the power of collective support.   Introducing a New Approach   As we continue to improve this initiative, we are excited to introduce a staggered planting strategy. Instead of planting everything at once and harvesting at the same time, the women will now plant different crops at different times. This ensures:   ✔ Year-round harvests, increasing food security ✔ Consistent income, rather than one bulk sale per season ✔ Better crop management, reducing risks from weather and pests   With this new approach, we aim to maximize productivity while strengthening the financial independence of these hardworking women.   Watch Their Journey   We invite you to watch this inspiring video showcasing the resilience and dedication of the women in our farming initiative. Their hands till the soil, their hearts fuel their determination, and their success is a victory for the entire community. How You Can Support   Your support makes a difference! Whether through donations, partnerships, or simply spreading the word, you can be a part of this movement to empower women through farming.   Donate:  Help provide seeds, fertilizer, tools, and training.   Share:  Spread awareness by sharing this blog and video.   Partner with Us:  Organizations and individuals can collaborate to expand this initiative.   Together, we are planting seeds of hope, opportunity, and change. Thank you for being part of this journey!

Today, we want to spotlight an incredible young woman, Swifati Thunga , whose journey is a testament to perseverance, determination, and the impact of investing in education. A Journey That Began in 2017 We first met Swifati Thunga in 2017 during our initial visit to her elementary school in Mulanje, Malawi.
